During the 1800’s Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom area was the hub
of commerce and trade with cobblestone streets leading to a bustling market area. Here a diverse mix of immigrants from Europe, African Americans, Native Americans and older established Richmond families intermingled as the area developed with homes, stores and factories. For about 100 years on the site of Sterling Row there was a candle and soap factory next to row houses and merchants’ shops. Each model name—The Candlelight, The Market Way and The Tradesman—is designed and named to evoke the rich heritage, grace and style of southern urban living of yesteryear and today.
